Bananas reproduce asexually

It appears that bananas could be gone from the face of the planet in as little as ten years, due to disease and fungus and the inability to fight them off by adapting. The things we see in our stores — long-lasting, seedless, flavourful — are specially bred. Their genes give the fruit less resistance to fungus and disease. They are all essentially clones; which means that they reproduce asexually.
